200 delegates and speakers from 24 countries, especially from climate vulnerable countries in the Global South, gathered at the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania on October 4-7, 2023, for the Global Youth Climate Summit.
During the Summit, the delegates co-created the Dar es Salaam Youth Climate Declaration, outlining concerns and aspirations of youth.

The Global Youth Climate Summit is a three-day hybrid (in-person and virtual) event taking place from April 2-5, 2025. The Summit aims to mobilize youth, build their leadership skills, and support them in leading the fight against climate change. It will bring together 500 youth, aged 18 to 32, and engage them in intergenerational dialogue with leading experts in climate change.
The Summit is open to anyone aged 18 to 32 from anywhere in the world. We are looking for young people passionate about tackling climate change.
TThe virtual Summit will be held online from April 2-5, 2025. All registered participants will receive an email with links to join the virtual event. Simultaneously, the in-person Summit will take place at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
Attendance at the Summit's virtual sessions is free of charge. For in-person participation, the registration fee is waived for Brazilian residents, while international delegates are required to pay USD 300. Financial aid is available to support participants as needed.
Both offline and online participants who will attend all the sessions will receive a certificate of participation from GYLC.

Local delegates (Brazilian residents) are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte, the Summit venue in Brazil.
Yes, free shuttle services will be available for international delegates to and from Tancredo Neves International Airport, Belo Horizonte, to the hotel. This service will be available from 00:01 hrs on April 2 until 23:59 hrs on April 5.
To apply for the prize, individuals aged 18 to 32 are required to design a community project, to be implemented anywhere in the world within three months (May 2025 - July 2025), that promotes the wellbeing of both ecosystems and human beings. Selected projects will each receive funding of USD 1,000.
Winning projects will be selected based on creativity, implementation plan, and potential impact.
No, only individual submissions are accepted. However, you may work individually or with a team to execute your idea.
Submit your project idea in 500 words when completing the application form. You should refer to our work plan template and budget guidelines for proposal submission.
We aim to fund 10 projects worldwide. GYLC reserves the final decision on winning proposals. Prize money will be disbursed to winners upon assurance that the proposed project will be implemented within six months of receiving the funds.
The deadline to submit proposals is January 15, 2025.
